TJJ NJ First Two Days!

Dear NJ TJJ 2022 Family!

It’s been two days and it feels like we’ve been here in Israel for much longer than that!

Here’s a quick recap, if only to remind ourselves of what we’ve already done in such a short amount of time.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon, met our six Israeli friends that are joining the trip for the next two weeks, and traveled North to Alonei Bashan, where we are staying. We woke up on Thursday morning, hiked Nachal Snir, then we were able to look out at Lebanon from Mitzpeh Benaya, went kayaking on the Jordan river, and then returned to our hotel, and conducted our first “Chaburah” (learning session). We woke up Friday morning, looked out at Syria at Mount BenTal, had fun at the De Karina chocolate factory, and listened in fascination to the heroic story of the Israeli soldiers at Tel Saki during the Yom Kippur war. We also did the “bunker challenge”, ate lunch at Katzrin, bought snacks for Shabbat and returned to Alonei Bashan to get ready for Shabbat.

Try saying all that in one breath!

Shabbat will be a relaxing and a meaningful day for us all here in the Golan.

On Sunday we will be packing up but sticking around the North of Israel while ending up at the end of the day at Beit Shean where we will be staying until the end of next week.

Please don’t forget to check out all of our pictures at our Instagram page Tjj_nj and Facebook at NCSY TJJ NJ.

Shabbat Shalom!

Rabbi Shmuel Greene
