For me, most Saturdays represent a break from school and homework. Today, however, was different: it was Shabbat.
Today, my fellow Teen Jewish Journeyers and I sang songs and read prayers relevant to Shabbat. I read Birkot HaShachar and learned about the intricate meanings behind the blessings. We took a short hike and saw a gorgeous view of the Golan, followed by the Banyas Stream from upclose. I loved playing Uno and Bananagrams and hanging out with my new friends (i.e. everyone) during our free time.
At night, our group divided into two teams and played Color War! We performed hilarious skits and elaborate dances. It was a wonderful surprise to an already enjoyable day.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to take a break from the normal rigor that comes with my week (that included casting my cell phone aside for the day). Overall, today was a great day, and I’m looking forward to the rest of my trip!
